Black wool-covered pressed-cork body has no breakage and all components are as prescribed for the Model 1881 dress helmet. Fine quality gold bullion New York crest within wreath, affixed to the front of the helmet. Interior with wide brown leather sweatband, white silk helmet lining, crown gold embossed "Henry V. Allien & Co New York". Original officer's gold cords, crown plate, plume holder and white yak hair plume are present as are the New York National Guard side buttons. CONDITION: Helmet is in excellent condition, metal components retain most of their original gilt finish with some toning to the insignia and cords. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
