Manufactured in 1954 and apparently put into storage and never issued. Sold by the Civilian Marksmanship Program in May of 2011 and remains in the shipping grease as it was delivered from the CMP. These late production M1 Garand rifles were made for issue in the Korean War. More than likely it was not delivered in time for actual issue. A very prominent 1954 era ordnance cartouche is evident on left side of stock as is the circle "P" proof at pistol grip. CONDITION: The rifle shows no actual use but does have several storage dings and bruises. The metal surfaces that are visible and not covered in dried cosmoline appear to be near pristine with only the slightest amount of high point wear. This is a rare opportunity to own an authentic as issued M1 Garand rifle in the most pristine of conditions to be had and is accompanied by its CMP certificate. Obviously no disassembly has been performed or cleaning to more closely review the rifle.
