Fine original Springfield M1-C sniper rifle with Korean era 5-51 barrel date. Only 7,971 M1-C rifles were produced, all by Springfield. Receivers and receiver scope base were sent to Griffin & Howe for installation. Because 37,000 G&H M1-C sight mounting assemblies were produced during World War II, it makes it extremely difficult to determine originality but the serial number range is correct. In addition, this rifle was shipped from the CMP program listing serial number 3310382 as an M1-C rifle, .30 caliber on their original invoice dated January 28th, 2000. The base is parkerized. Barrel is a Korean War Springfield 5-51 date. Bolt is stamped "D28287-2SA T1". The only cartouche on the stock is a small letter "P". Trigger group is stamped "D28290-7-SA". The M-84 Telescope is extremely clear and is mounted properly and is accompanied by its rubber eye cup. Rifle is in its CMP shipping box with all accoutrements including cleaning equipment, leather cheek piece, sling, and flash hider. These rare and desirable sniper rifles were a very limited offering from the CMP and were sold through a lottery process. CONDITION: Extremely fine as arsenal re-issued. The finish is as new as rebuilt at Anniston Arsenal. The optics are clear and functional, the box is solid, and most accessories remain in their storage wrapping. Rear sight is a later "DRC" replacement. ME reading: 1.5. Strong bore.
