This is a beautiful mid-war 1944 rifle made September 1944 to December 1944. Barrel dated "SA 9-44", trigger "D28290-18SA", lower frame "D28291 35", "D28287 -12SA" bolt, "S-06" heat lot. Features cross gas screw, rounded lock bar rear sight, and cut operating rod. The beautiful walnut stock has the "SA / GAW" inspector stamp of George Woody, that is the exact time frame stamp for this rifle along with the wheel stamp. CONDITION: Arsenal metal finish is about 95%. TE reading: 2.5. ME reading: just shy of 2. The stocks have a few dings but are a rich, dark color. About as close as you will find to an all original 1944 rifle and by replacing a few small parts, you could easily bring this back to as shipped condition.
