One-third octagon, two-thirds round, heavy barrel. 1.15" across flats, No. 4 weight. Stevens markings are on top flat, not cut for rear sight, globe front sight. No. 44 action with case colored loop lever and double set triggers is etched, leaving pattern of large open scroll surrounding vignettes of deer on left, and goat on right. Stevens-Vernier tang sight is installed. Replacement stocks of plain American walnut feature right hand cheekpiece, Swiss butt, and point pattern checkering. Weight: 12 lbs 2 oz. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Numbers on barrel and action match. Mismatched buttplate. Barrel retains most of its original blue with considerable browning and staining. Action retains over 50% of its original case hardening color. Traces of case color on lever remaining. Stocks have been heavily refinished with checkering re-cut. Buttplate is filed and polished bright. Bore is very fine to excellent. Set triggers work. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Francis Brown. TR
