We believe this rifle to be a 44-1/2 Model 47 with special order features. The action is non-engraved with case coloring. It is fitted with double set triggers. The case colored lever is typical for the Model 51 with spur and wood inserts. Buttstock is plain American walnut, pistol grip style, checkered, and sans cheekpiece. Buttplate is case colored. Forearm is two screw style, checkered. Barrel serial numbered to actions, caliber marked for .32-40 and bearing the J. Stevens Arms and Tool stamp. Barrel is part octagon. Globe front sight with interchangeable inserts, elevator sight on barrel, and Stevens-Vernier on tang. CONDITION: Case colors on action are still brilliant, showing very little wear. Case colors on lever are fading. Buttstock shows only a few minor handling marks. Buttplate with almost all color remaining and a few small spots of oxidation. Forearm shows almost no handling marks. Barrel shows virtually no wear with excellent blue. Very good bore and fine action. A fine, top condition Stevens example with special order features. TR
