Tapered octagon barrel holds folding rear sight, globe front, and is fitted with Stevens scope number 438. Case hardened 44-1/2 action with loop lever and double set triggers is engraved with classic large open scroll. Stevens tang sight without windage adjustment has been fitted. Schuetzen buttstock with right hand cheekpiece, closely spaced checkering, and heavy Swiss buttplate is of finely crotch figured American walnut. Schnabeled forend matches well. Weight: 13 lbs 3 oz. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel and action numbers match. Barrel retains approximately 80% original blue, thinning on sides, silvered on sharp edges. Scope retains most of its blue with some patches of browning. Optically good. Action retains over 70% muted case colors with some scratches and marks, and fading but still visible. Blue on breech block and hammer is excellent, slightly silvered. Stocks retain over 90% original varnish, somewhat crazed, with some light marks. There is some staining and thinning of case color on buttplate. Bore is good, appears dark in grooves (may clean well). PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Francis Brown. MGM 65
