Stevens 44-1/2 Action Model 49. Action is coarsely scroll engraved as is typical for this model. Fitted with a number three loop lever, which has been bent to fit the gun. Double set triggers. Buttstock is a straight grip checkered made of fancy American walnut and is not correct for this rifle as straight grips are only found on the Model 51 and 54 in higher grades. Buttplate is nickel plated and is believed to be a custom design. Forearm is by Stevens, checkered, and made of fancy wood. Two screw design. Stevens barrel is 29-1/2" long, full octagon, drilled and tapped for a scope with scope blocks present. Globe front sight and a Stevens-Vernier fitted to the tang. Included is a Bedding & Mull target scope in micrometer rings with a broken rear bracket. CONDITION: There are just traces of case color remaining on the action in protected areas. Buttstock shows very minor handling marks and is in excellent condition. Forearm is in excellent condition. Most of the barrel blue remains except on the bottom flat, probably from use on a rest, and on the high edges. Good action, bore is excellent. Optics need work. TR
