Truly one of the rarest of FG-42 items is this original first variation 10 round magazine for the iconic FG-42 machine gun. Designed to save profile space these magazines were only fielded as experimental pieces before the traditional 20 round magazines were chosen to be the standard. This magazine exhibits the high quality stamping, welding, and fitting techniques in use during World War II and the finish is completely consistent with other FG-42 magazines of the period. Take a close look at the method of attaching the front tab and the method and quality of attaching the floorplate retention spring. Making this magazine was no small task. No discernible markings present. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine to extremely fine original blue finish with wear to gray patina at the high edges and contact points. A great find of an exceptionally rare FG-42 accessory!
