One of the most sought after of the modern machine guns is the original Cadillac Gage Stoner. Originally designed in 1963, it is a landmark design for a modular weapons system which can be a rifle, carbine, light box magazine fed machine gun, belt-fed machine gun, or vehicle mounted machine gun. A few of these original guns saw service in Vietnam in the hands of the Navy and Marine Corps. Very, very, few made it into the National Firearms Act registry in the United States and these few are highly sought collectors items. This model is belt-fed from left to right only, incorporates a mount at the underside of the receiver, and has the shorter fluted barrel for a lighter machine gun package. It includes a removable bipod clamped to the gas cylinder. This gun is a pre-May 1986 dealer sample currently on an ATF Form 3 at Morphy’s annotated as “LIMITED TO USE AS A SALES SAMPLE”. As a pre-86 dealer sample, this gun can be retained privately when an active FFL/SOT dealer in a "sole proprietor" status relinquishes their license, subject to any state and local restrictions, and upon BATF approval. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original factory black hardcoat and matte blue finish with very little wear, although there is evidence of firing on the feed tray and on the feed mechanism parts. Bore is near excellent shiny and bright. Bolt face near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. Fantastic find for the class III dealer. See the lot of Stoner barrels in a separate lot in this auction. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE AS A PRE-86 DEALER SAMPLE ONLY TO ACTIVE CURRENT FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 ONLY.
