This MG 08/15 was manufactured by Spandau in 1917 and is a combination of matching and non-matching parts. Receiver is one number; top cover, latch, feed block and fusee cover all match each other with serial number "6690". Internals and charging lever are "680". Lock and barrel do not match any other number. Outer shell "bell" of muzzle booster not present but this does not affect serviceability. Accessories include bipod, assault drum with spool, drum hanging bracket, 125 round original brass-tabbed cloth belt, spare lock, spare barrel, and barrel cover. Also two Russian steel ammo cans with 7.62x54R metal belts. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is extremely fine original blue finish on receiver sideplates, top cover, and feed block, with faithful to original practice rust refinish over some tiny pitting on the fusee cover. Water jacket has one small ding on left side and has been repainted a correct non-reflective green. Bipod very clean and repainted also. Muzzle booster has some light to moderate pitting but remains fully functional. Assault drum quite attractive. Steam port cover extremely fine with good prongs and retains steel chain. Water jacket fill cap retains its wooden thumbpiece (one seldom sees these intact). Pistol grip and buttstock show typical dings and bruises but remain attractive and serviceable. Bore is very fine, shiny lands with some frosting starting in grooves. Bolt and bolt face very fine. Belt in good serviceable condition. Mechanics are fine. This is a full auto only machine gun. A very attractive World War I German Maxim retaining difficult to obtain parts, and in fine condition too! THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE.
