Classic World War II retrofit of a really nice World War I Model 1918 Browning Automatic Rifle originally manufactured in October 1918 as indicated by the original Winchester barrel date. This specimen was retrofitted and updated for World War II and has a bipod, carrying handle, smooth wooden forend, composite buttstock, and "F A S" selector markings with updated internals. British nitro proof and firing test proofs on right side of barrel indicate this gun was in British hands before returning to the United States. Beautiful clear flaming bomb and crossed cannon ordnance proofs on this gun. Ten grey phosphate finish post-war 20 round magazines and an original leather sling are included with this gun. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine World War II era smooth arsenal refinish with some thinning and some wear to a grey patina at the high edges with some pinpricks on the barrel above the forend. Mechanics are fine. Bore extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Wood and composite furnishings exhibit typical albeit light handling marks and dings. This is a full-auto only (fast and slow) machine gun. This is a particularly attractive specimen, especially with its original October 1918 barrel. Could very well be a Veteran of both World Wars. Deserves a special place in the collection of an appreciative collector. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2019-10-87
