Fine original condition Colt Cavalry Single Action Army manufactured in 1874 and remaining in its original configuration and authenticated by John Kopec with his "Silver" seal letter. Serial number 6489 with 7-1/2" barrel with script single line barrel address and bulls eye ejector and proper one piece walnut grips is attributed to the US Fifth Cavalry who served gallantly in the Arizona territory during the early Indian War period. John Kopec notes that the hammer is a 1900's replacement, the hammer screw has been resurfaced, the grips are original but the inspectors markings are worn away, faint case colors remain in the forward frame area and that his revolver has never sustained cleaning or polishing, but remains perfectly original. The letter is signed by Mr. Kopec and has his prestigious silver seal indicating that the gun is original and above average condition. Numbers are found to be all matching and the frame has the proper two line patent date and is US marked. The cylinder still retains the square bolt stops with out lead in slots. CONDITION: Very fine with strong amounts of factory blue finish observed under bright light in the chambers and surrounding the ejector housing. Faint case colors are found on rear of frame and strong case colors at front of frame. The bore is very good with slight darkness in the grooves. The action is crisp and lock up is solid. The grips have a period crack on the left side indicating the hard use these guns were subjected to. This revolver is a recent discovery and fresh to the market and is a true survivor of our early westward expansion period. TDW
