March to June 1945. This World War II rifle was made just prior to VE Day. The barrel is dated 2-45, the bolt is stamped (D28287-19SA) (correct), "D28290-12SA" stamped on trigger group, "D28291" lower frame, "D35382 9 SA" on uncut op-rod. Has square end lock bar rear sight with cross slotted gas trap nut. The beautiful dark walnut stock has the correct "SA NFR" inspector stamp of Norm Ramsey in box on left side with "P" stamped on wrist. CONDITION: Metal retains at least 95% of the arsenal applied matte grey finish. Stocks match in color, have the usual small marks, and are quite handsome. ME reading: 2. TE reading: 2. From what we can find, this rifle is almost completely original to the time frame, at least most of the expensive parts are correct. This rifle could have landed at Normandy! A great World War II Garand. A proper era US marked bayonet, scabbard, and sling comes with the lot.
