Lot consists of: (A) M1881 enlisted cavalry full dress helmet with pressed black fur felt body and a polished black leather band around the lower edge of the helmet and leather chin strap. Brass cavalry crossed sword side buttons, plume holder, gold gilt eagle front plate with German silver "7", yellow horsehair plume, yellow worsted woo cords and tassels with tan leather sweatband. CONDITION: Excellent. (B) M1881 enlisted artillery full dress helmet with pressed black fur felt body with a polished black leather band around the lower edge of the helmet and leather chin strap. Gold gilt brass artillery crossed cannons side buttons, plume holder, and eagle front plate with German silver "2", dark red horsehair plume, complete red worsted wool cords, tassels, and tan leather sweatband. Underside of sweatband bears a US Quartermaster and Wm. H. Horstmann, Philadelphia Nov 1897 stamp. CONDITION: Excellent. Provenance: Dr. Frank Wagner cavalry museum collection.
