Original oil on board painting featuring Custer in front of his tent on the 1874 expedition into the Black Hills. Heinz is known for his commitment to accuracy and Custer's weapons and equipment are shown in amazing detail. He is outfitted in his custom made buckskins and M1872 black felt campaign hat. He is holding his No. 1 Remington sporting rifle in .50-70 caliber, along with his holstered RIC Bulldog revolvers and Arikara beaded knife case on his belt with regulation eagle plate. CONDITION: Excellent overall. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Wagner cavalry museum collection.
