A rare gun with only approximately 400 manufactured using the 1807 style lock under the supervision of Colonel Robert Lee. Of standard configuration throughout. The long 11" barrel stamped "T", eagle and "V", dated 1818. The lock with swan-neck cock, lock struck with eagle and shield over "U.S.", tail of lock marked "SPRINGFIELD 1818". Walnut stock with inspector's marks. CONDITION: Barrel is mostly smooth, even aged brown with some marks, lock is similarly even age brown over pinprick pitting, hammer and frizzen with pinprick pitting, pistol shows no evidence of re-conversion, frizzen spring is possibly replaced, stock rates very good with small chunks missing at breech. Inspector's marks are somewhat obscured but visible. Wood has an attractive hand-worn patina. Oak ramrod with cleaning jag possibly original. Action is excellent, bore is good. One of the rarest and most desirable U.S. flintlock Martiall pistols. MZ
