This pistol has a long, octagonal, heavily rifled steel barrel with front sights mounted on top. There is a "P" deeply stamped on the left side of the breech. The flat lockplate is marked "SQUIRE & Co." in the center and features a reinforced cock and a waterproof pan with roller frizzen. Plain Martial type brass furniture includes trigger guard, pommel cap with tombstone shaped tang; and ramrod ferrules, the foremost ferrule is trumpeted. There is a brass nosecap as well. Full length plain walnut stock complete with associated wooden ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel retains a brown patina with some scattered pitting, especially around touch hole. Lock retains a dark grey patina and is in its original flintlock configuration, functions well. The cock screw is a later replacement. Brass retains a mellow mustard patina with some scattered marks from use. Stock very good with some scattered bruising and hairline age cracks. A very attractive Kentucky style pistol with an unusually long barrel. DMG
