Unusual Tryon marked rifle with half round half octagon rifled barrel fitted for socket style bayonet. Front blade sight with rear military style graduated sight. Curly maple checkered wrist stock with cheekpiece and iron four piece patchbox, trigger guard and toeplate. Barrel held by two brass musket style bands with brass musket style nosepiece. Gun has military style sling swivels. Percussion lock marked "Tryon Philada" with patent breech and double set trigger control. Gun comes with steel ramrod, mold marked "CP 178" and "US" marked socket style bayonet with leather scabbard. Interesting gun with consignor indicating manufacture as a sniper's rifle. CONDITION: Gun exhibits overall original patina with some light handling marks. Good mechanics. Bayonet is clean with good sheath. Bullet mold is pitted from use with visible markings. DLM 2019
