According to various documents these rifles were contracted by the Pennsylvania State Government for various state militia units circa 1814. This gun was produced by Jacob Dickert of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and is signed in script on the top of the barrel. Gun has rifled 37-1/2" octagon barrel with end turned down to round to accept a taper fit bayonet. Gun has "Dreppert" marked flint lock with single trigger and brass musket style sideplate. Plain full curly maple stock with brass furniture including two piece patchbox with release on the comb of the buttplate. Flat barrel keys with plain brass ramrod pipes. A great example of a scarce rifle. CONDITION: Metal has age patina with brass having an aged golden color. Lock is a correct marked period plate with incorrect cock and frizzen and is a possible reconversion. Stock has been cleaned long ago with some age cracks and no visible signs of restoration.
