A) Gilded metal components and black cloth-covered pressed-cork body, deluxe eagle plate with applique crossed sabers surmounted with a shield affixed to the front of the helmet, a large silvered "7" is attached to the center of shield, two-piece cavalry side buttons, brass chin chain, yellow yak hair plume and fine quality plume socket with separately applied eagle. Helmet is complete with gilt knotted cords, tassels and waffles. All components are as prescribed for the Model 1881 dress helmet. Black leather sweatband, green silk visor linings. B) Pair of Model 1881 officer's cavalry 2nd lieutenants shoulder knots with bullion numbers "7" on each pad. In the 1880's the 7th U.S. Cavalry was posted to Fort Abraham Lincoln Dakota Territory and fought at the Battle of Crow Agency in 1887 and Wounded Knee in 1890 . CONDITION: Helmet is in very good condition with minor wear to the leather edging and wear to the silk visor linings. Knots are in excellent condition.
