(1958) 27 1/2" Demi bloc barrels are fitted with full length matted rib holding claw scope bases and one standing, two folding leaf express rear sight. Central portion is milled away forming front ramp holding a large silver bead. Unmatted portion is engraved "Franz Sodia, Ferlach, Austria". Bohler Antinit barrels are stamped with 1958 Ferlach proofs on bottoms. Sling loop is soldered to bottom of barrel. Coin finished ogee backed boxlock double Kersten over-under action features non-automatic safety, bushed strikers, and double triggers (front set). Action is engraved with some well cut open shaded scroll within line and feather borders, surrounding fairly well rendered scenes of African big game; a pair of elephant bulls in open woodlands on left side of action, and a pair of cape buffalo in similar setting on right. Bottom of action pictures a quartering white rhino. Makers name is in circular ribbon on trigger plate. Steel trigger guard has serial number on tang. Somewhat figured and lightly marbled European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14" over brown leather covered pad. Stock features small right hand cheekpiece and point pattern skip line checkering. Matching long three piece forend has Deeley release. A Kahles "Helia 39 St" variable scope with three post reticle is in soldered on claw rings, rear with windage. Weight without scope: 10 lbs 2 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrels retain approximately 80% of what appears to be original blue. Coin finish of action is bright. Stocks have numerous light marks and bumps in original varnish, some marks are quite heavy on left side of butt. Checkering is dark, lightly worn. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Scope is excellent. Optically clear. MGM34.
