This is a 3rd Model Tranter with the "hesitating mechanism". The 3 - 5/8" octagon barrel with a .360 measured bore, finely engraved at breech. The frame is finely engraved with best quality English scrollwork. The retailer's name framed in a reserve on top flat. The blued cylinder engraved with scrolls en suite with frame and barrel. Backstrap engraved en suite. Bow of trigger guard engraved. Steel buttcap engraved. Polished loading lever engraved with scrolls and stamped "W. Tranter Patent". Bright trigger stamped "W. Tranter Patent". Finely checkered walnut grip with beautifully executed panels. Revolver does not have a safety as it does not need one. CONDITION: Frame and barrel retain nearly all of their original bright bluing with minor flaking on right side. Cylinder retains much original darkened blue. Trigger guard retains considerable original bright blue with some flaking. Engraved buttcap retains considerable original darkening blue. Hammer, trigger, and loading lever retain nearly all of their original bright polish. Finely checkered walnut grip retains most of its original varnish with little wear to checkering. Bore is good with only minor pitting. Crisp action. Case rates very fine with one split running longitudinally to front top of lid. Original "Owen Powell 39 High Street, Sheffield" label in excellent condition and also reads "N.B. Gentlemen supplied with every article of superior quality connected with the Gun Trade." Interior of case is excellent with little wear to lining. Japanned bullet tin still filled with lead bullets. Japanned tallow tin still retaining tallow. Circular wooden patch box, oil bottle, Dixon flask with spout retaining nearly all of its original bluing, brilliant nitre bluing on spring, body retains nearly all of its original lacquer with no dents. Mold marked 120 on sprue cutter, which retains most of its original bluing, brass body marked Tranter's Patent, appears to be unused. A very fine example of Tranter's two trigger percussion revolver.
