Very fine Liege Belgium assembled 1851 Colt Navy Brevete revolver. Based upon literature, the gun was assembled in Belgium using parts manufactured by Colt around 1853. The hammer is Belgium made. Barrel markings, address "SAML Colt New York City", showing a high polish blue typical of the era. Cylinder displays the W.L. Ormsby Naval battle scene with Colts patent number, minus serial number. Markings "NM" stamped on barrel, trigger guard, and backstrap. No visible serial numbers. Belgium proof marks on barrel and cylinder. The trigger guard and backstrap appear nickel plated. One piece varnished walnut grips. A very similar revolver is pictured on page 196 of the book "Colt Brevete Revolvers" by Roy Marcot and Ron Paxton. CONDITION: Very fine overall with approximately 95% original high polish blue on barrel. Sharp cylinder scene with traces of original blue. Traces of soft case color on frame. Grips are excellent with most original varnish. All main parts of the gun have an assembly number in Roman letters (III) made by file strokes from the outside not visible. Bore is excellent. Very crisp tight action. PROVENANCE: From the esteemed Peter Blatter collection. MKS
