This is an exceedingly rare and high condition special ordered Remington Model 7. The Remington Model 7 was a very low production gun, manufactured from 1903-1910, for a total production of approximately 350 rifles. Serial number 300339 is the only known example to be factory engraved with a factory installed telescopic sight. Tapered octagon to round barrel. Barrel nicely engraved at the octagon to round transition and at the breech. Barrel marked "Remington Arms Co. Ilion , N.Y. U.S.A." appearing to be hand engraved rather than the typically seen roll die stamp. Believed to be unique Remington manufactured Vernier adjustable mounts with a Wm. Malcolm telescopic sight. Frame and trigger guard engraved in a diminutive and masterfully executed scroll pattern typically seen on fine bespoke English shotguns. Lower tang is hand engraved with the prefix "VT" and serial number 300339. The "VT" is believed to be a Remington factory designation for "Vernier Telescopic". Nicely figured walnut stock and forearm with checkered pistol grip and a nickel plated Zischang style buttplate. Correct hard rubber grip cap with scalloped edge. Featured on page 314 of the book "Remington Rolling Block Rifles, Carbines, & Shotguns, Sporting & Target Rifles" by Roy Marcot and Jay Lewis, also discussed in the book "Still More Single Shot Rifles" by: James J. Grant. Featured in the Remington Society of America Journal Fourth Quarter 1993 Edition. CONDITION: Excellent+ overall with 98%+ original blue on barrel. Clean bore also excellent+. Engraving is sharp and crisp. Frame shows 30-40% original case color turning a very pleasing patina. Minimum wear on checkering and wood, with a couple minimum size dents on the right side of stock. Approximately 95% original nickel remaining on buttplate. All original unmolested screws with engraved heads. The No. 7 Remington is regarded by many collectors as one of the most beautiful and unique models ever made, serial number 300339 is an opportunity to own the best of the best. MKS
