For a similar example, see number 94 and pages 198-199 of "Historic Pistols" by Samuel E. Smith and Edwin W. Bitter. This pistol is similar to the Maryland state contract pistols but without the markings and with no sideplate. The round, steel barrel is stamped with a "P" cartouche at the breech. The flat lockplate with beveled edges is unmarked. Frizzen spring is scalloped. Brass furniture includes on ramrod ferrule and an 1807 contract type brass trigger guard. Plain walnut stock with no pommel cap. Complete with steel tipped wooden ramrod, which is a contemporary replacement. CONDITION: Barrel retains a spotted grey patina with some marks from use and scattered areas of pitting. Lock retains a dark brown patina and is in its original flintlock configuration. Brass retains a mellow mustard patina. Stock is very good with a few scattered marks. DMG
