Springfield manufactured musket with flintlock dated 1808 at rear and marked "US" over eagle, over "Springfield" in front of cock. Musket style smoothbore barrel with bayonet lug and marked at breech with "P", "Eagle head" and "V" proofs near left of breech. "US" mark on top of breech. Three iron bands with springs before middle having a sling swivel stud. Walnut musket style stock with iron furniture including buttplate marked 1808. Original steel ramrod. CONDITION: Overall fair condition with metal turning a plum color and exhibiting some light pitting. Original sling swivels missing. Wood has usage marks and original finish with some splinters missing along the forestock and no visible restoration. Good mechanics. DLM2019
