A very early (circa 1885) and nicely preserved 12 Bore Rigby Rising Bite side by side shotgun. The monoblock sleeved barrels measure 28", game rib, and front bead sight. Rib reads "Jn. Rigby & Co. 72 St. James's Street. London and Dublin". Splinter forend with slightly misshaped tip and Rigby's patent lever release. Push forward underlever sidelock action with third bite, bushed firing pins, non-ejector, slightly proud metal and auto-safe feature. Breech face reads R&B Patent No 1141. Sidelocks read J. Rigby & Co. Nicely figured buttstock with indications of use, flat top checkering and brown leather recoil pad. CONDITION: Barrels retain the majority of their color with a few freckling spots, strong bores. Chipped forend tip, freckled buttstock and proud metal around locks. CP
