(1932) 26 - 1/2" chopper lump barrels are engraved "Royal Brevis" on narrow swamped game ribs. Tops of barrels are engraved "Holland & Holland" "33 Bruton Street London". Guns were built as a pair with the number "1" and "2" in gold on breech ends of ribs, top levers, and forend tips. Barrel flats are stamped with 1987 London nitro proofs for 2 - 3/4" chambers. Barrels are fitted with H&H self opening assist springs. Coin finished "Royal" sidelock actions feature automatic safeties (SAFE inlaid in gold), hand detachable locks, gold band tumbler end cocking indicators and double triggers. Actions are engraved in classic "Royal" style with full coverage large shaded scroll with some strapwork highlights. "Holland & Holland" is in scroll flanked arched device on each lockplate. Bottoms are engraved "ROYAL' "SELF-OPENER" "PATENT" "1922". Single beaded trigger guards, also scroll engraved, have serial numbers on short tangs. Fairly well matched lightly marbled and figured European walnut straight grip buttstocks measure 14 - 1/2" over checkered wood butts. Stocks are classically finished with drop points, vacant gold ovals, and point pattern checkering with diamond hands. Matching splinter ejector forends have Anson releases. Original oak and leather two gun case with brass corners is lined in burgundy cloth. A gold embossed black leather H&H label is in lid, along with AB ejector information label. Case contains two pairs of snap caps, bone striker bottle, two piece cleaning rod, an old oil can, a hand protector, and some cleaning brushes. CONDITION: Fine, as refurbished. New made barrels retain nearly all of their original blue with a few very light marks. Action is cleaned to coin finish. Trigger guard grips show some hand wear, mostly on gun "1". Stocks retain nearly all of an oil refinish with some subsequent marks. Checkering is worn, somewhat gummed with finish. Checkering on forends re-cut. Bores are excellent. Actions are tight. Barrels are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is fine, relatively light in color, with some dark spots and rubs. Central name area missing. Straps and handle are good. Interior cloth is good to fine, some rubs through with compressions and soiling. Partitions are good. Labels are good. Ejector label foxed. Accessories are good. A classic pair with new barrels ready for another century. MGM18.
