(1984) 26 - 3/4" Chopper lump barrels with slightly raised matted rib are gold inlaid "abbiatico & salvinelli" on side of left barrel. Barrel flats are stamped with 1984 Italian nitro proofs. This gun is of A & S's best period which features the first names of the craftsmen involved in the making of this gun, stamped on bottom of rear lump. In this case they are Dante, Mario (Abbiatico), Poli, Remo (Salvinelli), and Tony. Small sized coin finished sidelock action with makers name, serial number, etc. in flush gold on water table, features non-automatic safety, disc set strikers, and single non-selective trigger. Action is nicely filed and is masterfully engraved by Bruno Goldani, whose signature is on trigger plate. Engraving features truly superb almost photographic renditions of ruffed grouse in various situations; left lockplate depicts a pair flying over open river clearing with birch tree at right. Another flying grouse is at front of lockplate. Right lockplate is similar, except grouse at rear are flying into woodland clearing. Bottom of action has attractive scene of a pair of grouse perched on tree branches with one grouse displaying, tail fanned. These fine scenes are surrounded by well cut and shaded small scroll. Small bow single beaded trigger guard is scroll engraved to match. Serial number is in flush gold on tang. Nicely marbled and somewhat stump figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 - 1/4" over checkered wood butt. Styling is traditional with fluted drop points, and borderless point pattern checkering on diamond hand. Matching slim semi beavertail ejector forend with Anson release has inlet gold "A & S" shield on uncheckered central diamond. CONDITION: Excellent, appears unfired since proof, with only a few very light handling and assembly marks in all fine factory surfaces. Mechanically excellent. Strong ejectors and mechanical single trigger appears to work well. MGM 56.
