Following is a direct quotation from documentation accompanying revolver: "This fancy revolver is Mr. Al Greers "Movie Gun" or stage "prop"! It is a mixture of several colt revolvers. It first started out as a "factory engraved" Colt Single Action Army Model revolver in caliber 44-40 in May 1880. It now fires blanks with its "45 Colt" Cylinder and its caliber "44 barrel". This revolver was used in many Class "B" Westerns in the 1930s and 1940s before being acquired by Mr. Greer sometime in the late 1940's. It was sold as part of Mr. Greers Estate to Mr. Gary Hardin of Grand Junction Colorado who was a good friend of Mr. Greer and his family...Mr. Al Greer was not only a recognized 'Movie Actor" but also was an accomplished "shooter" and "firearms collector". His work in movies was mostly in Class "B" Westerns, but his work in real life included activity in law enforcement with real arrest made." According to Colt archive letter the subject revolver was shipped to B. Kitteredge & Company Cincinnati Ohio on May 3, 1880 in a shipment of 10 guns. caliber .44/40, barrel length not listed, ivory stocks, and factory engraved. Additional literature accompanies revolver further documenting Mr. Greer and his wife Mel as performers, trick shooters, firearm expert, and law enforcement officer. Also, a soft cover booklet written by Mr. Greer with interesting quote on the cover "In the Old West the real badmen styled their guns to fit their own tricks. The net result spelled mortal danger." CONDITION: Poor overall, most all original finish and engraving worn smooth. Replacement non-factory parts including poorly fitted backstrap and grips. Barrel address, frame markings, and caliber markings no longer visible. Should be considered a relic unsafe for use. MKS
