The heavy round barrel measures 29" and chambered for the .22 caliber and is stamped H.M.POPE under fore-arm with a series of measurement numbers and on top of the barrel. The frame is factory engraved with deer on left panel and bear on right panel with surrounding area in typical scroll pattern. The frame has been polished to a bright finish. It is equipped with double set triggers and ring lever. The walnut stock has perch belly, checkered with brass Swiss butt-plate. Stock shows some average handling marks and a couple of minor age cracks at frame. There is a hole in forend, presumably for palm rest. The barrel retains 98% bright blue and has an adjustable front sight but not cut for any rear barrel sight. The tang has a mid-range sight added. The bore and action are fine. Jersey City Pope number 681, made June 18, 1926. DB
