The serial number was applied on this gun on August 8th, 1919 with no other factory information which is common for this period. It is a factory all original so-called Trapper Model with a 14" and short forend. The receiver shows that there had been a ring on this carbine for a short while before being removed and the stud is still present. All other features are standard such as walnut stocks and blue finish with ladder rear sight and post front. CONDITION: This carbine was found in a barn with original Winchester soft case wrapped around it, deteriorated but still there. It must have remained in that barn, untouched, for decades and saw no care. As a result, you have a Trapper that shows very little actual use but the frame finish has simply flaked to about 30% but that which remains is brilliant while balance is a smooth patina. There is a few age freckles and some light thinning on the tube and some spots on left side of barrel that have bubbled mixing with a solid 85-90% original bright Winchester factory blue. The bolt has nearly 99% original blue while the buttplate remains a solid 90% as well. The stocks are near mint with barely a few handling marks. The bore is near new mirror bright and the action is like new. A near new Trapper whose only real wear is not wear at all but simply storage flaws. A wonderful little .44 Trapper. DB
