This classic Lehigh County longrifle has a full length octagonal barrel, signed "John Moll Jr" in script on the top flat towards the breech. Front sight is of brass and rear sight is centered on the block. Both sights have a line inscribed in front of and behind them. The flat lockplate features a roller frizzen and is stamped "LONDON WARRANTED" in the center. The brass furniture includes a classic two piece Moll patchbox with engraved simple borders and a triangular checkered panel on the finial. The sideplate has beveled edges and terminates at the rear in an arrow. The faceted trigger guard has a lug in front of the bow. Nosecap has exposed wood at the muzzle. Full length plain maple stock decorated with faux striping and retaining a violin finish. Stock is of classic Lehigh form with step at wrist and a small carved cheekpiece on the left side. CONDITION: Barrel retains a dark brown patina with some corrosion at the breech and a clear signature. The lock retains a dark grey patina and is in its original flintlock configuration. The brass retains a pleasing mustard patina. The stock shows much of its original finish with some wear from carrying and use in the typical areas, as well as some chipping to finish and scattered marks from use. There is an area of restoration between the center ramrod ferrule and the ramrod entry ferrule. DMG
