Reading school flintlock Kentucky attributed to John Bonewitz of Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania. Full unmarked octagon smoothbore swamped barrel with rifle sights. Correct Germanic flintlock with two line markings at rear of lock with styled single trigger. Brass furniture with Bonewitz style four piece patchbox and Reading style sideplate and trigger guard. Silver Hunter's star inlay on cheekpiece with silver thumbpiece wrist inlay. Full curly maple stock with raised "C" scroll carving with typical Bonewitz squiggle line carving under the cheekpiece. Floral style tang carving with "beavertails" behind lock and sideplate. CONDITION: Gun has had major restoration with entire forestock being a replacement. Barrel is period barrel probably added when forestock was replaced. Buttstock is original with some cleaning and carving retraced. Lock is correct style, but is probably a replacement. Good mechanics. Very professional restoration work. DLM
