Large horizontal oil on canvas artwork featured Uncle Sam. Signed on lower left of Uncle Sam’s coat. Studley Oldham Burroughs, born December 26, 1892, was the nephew of Edgar Rice Burroughs. Burroughs was born in Chicago and lived most of his life in that area. He illustrated four different Edgar Rice Burroughs novels including “Tarzan the Invincible”, “Jungle Girl”, “Tarzan Triumphant”, and “Apache Devil”. He also did illustration work for the Saturday Evening Post and was quite productive and successful. This illustration was probably produced in the 1940s and boasts a strong and wonderful appearance. Some overall crazing, light to medium wear, and minor soiling.

Condition: (Very Good - Excellent).
