Manufactured by Erfurt for the Imperial German military. Features include round barrel with dovetailed inverted V fine tune front sight, nine position adjustable fine tune rear sight at rear of barrel, thumb safety marked "Gesichert" in the upper position, extractor marked "Geladen", front toggle link is marked with a "Crown over Erfurt". The gun and the stock are unit marked "172.R.9.6." which indicates that the gun was issued to the 172nd Infantry Regiment, 9th Company gun number 6. Gun comes with an original board stock with number 265 stock iron, crown "S" proof for Konigliche Gewehrfabrik Manufacturing Co. Artillery holster that is ink stamped "B-A II" and "SATTLER JANUNG HANNOVER 1916". The shoulder straps are modern reproductions. Also comes with an original artillery cleaning rod, crown "U" takedown tool. Original double magazine pouch with two non-matching wood bottom magazines. It is an all matching numbered gun, stock and one magazine. The matching magazine and stock iron are suspect of being renumbered to match the gun. CONDITION: The gun has been professionally restored and retains 95% of the brilliant aftermarket rust blue finish and 80% of the aftermarket straw color on the small parts. Bore has sharp lands and grooves with just a bit of frosting in the grooves. Gun has just a bit of high edge and holster wear. Grips are mint with sharp checkering. All parts have the correct Erfurt proof on them. Holster stitching is tight and serviceable with no stitching loss. Holster has a "Crown RC" on the top flap. Stock and tools are in excellent condition. A very early and hard to find in any condition 1914 Erfurt Artillery Luger. RW
