(1981) 28" chopper lump barrels with swamped game ribs, are engraved with Hollands 13 Bruton Street address on top. The "Royal" is on ribs. Guns are built and marked as a pair with "1" or "2" inlaid in gold on rear portions of ribs, top levers, and forend tips. Barrel flats are stamped with London 1981 nitro proofs for 2 - 3/4" chambers. Bottoms of barrels are stamped with serial numbers and are fitted with H&H self opening assist springs. Case hardened "Royal" sidelock actions feature automatic safeties (SAFE inlaid in gold), gold band tumbler end cocking indicators, and H&H hand detachable locks. Actions are also fitted with single triggers, which bypass firing right barrel by pushing forward on trigger blades. Actions are engraved in classic Holland & Holland large shaded scroll with company name in arched devices on each lockplate. Bottoms of actions are engraved with "The "Royal" Model". Blued single beaded small bow trigger guards have serial numbers in gold on tangs. Well matched dark marbled and nicely figured European walnut straight grip buttstocks measure 15 - 3/8" over checkered wood butts, and feature drop points, gold ovals on toe lines engraved "H. R. A." and usual point pattern checkering on diamond hands. Matching splinter ejector forends have Anson releases. CONDITION: Excellent, showing moderate field use. Barrels retain approximately 90% original blue with a number of light marks and scratches, silvered on breech ends, sharp edges, and muzzles. Actions retain approximately 85% original case hardening color, pleasantly silvered on beads and fences from normal hand wear. Stocks have numerous marks, bumps, and scratches in their original finish, checkering lightly worn. Bores are excellent. Actions are tight. Barrels are on face. Ejectors are slightly out of time on both guns. Triggers appear to work well. Guns are accompanied by a brown vinyl carrying case. MGM 1.
