A nicely engraved circa 1925 Parker 16 gauge. Barrels are 28" and show to be sound with a concave matted solid rib and a single bead. Rib reads "Parker Bros.Makers.Meriden. CT. U.S.A. Titanic Steel." with arrows at both ends. This shotgun is one of approximately 1,100 'D' Grade shotguns Parker Brothers made in 16 gauge. Improved Modified and Skeet Chokes with 2 -1/2" chambers with barrels numbered to the gun. The number 3 receiver has patent markings "DH" and serial number over "3" marked on its water table. Boxlock action with dolls head third fastener benefits from fine scroll engraving with dogs and "Parker Bros. on its sides along with a pheasant bird scene on its bottom. The forearm is also numbered to the gun and it also has fine scroll engraving on its hardware. Double triggers and tang mounted auto-safe. Both the pistol grip stock and forearm have nicely figured walnut which feature crisp checkering. Factory grip cap. Checkered buttstock with oval initialed "CWB" nicely features a skeleton border engraved plate. The leather vc case with corner protectors, lined maroon felt and case label comes with snap caps and cleaning rod. CONDITION: Very well maintained retaining 85 to 90% blue with a smooth grey patina. Some interior and exterior freckling. Action with traces of color. Wood is fine with handling marks. Locks up nice and tight. Mechanically fine. CP
