Ben Lane of Colorado is a master Colt engraver that has done many noted firearms and the quality of his work is world renowned. On this custom Colt, he started with a frame made in 1882 in which he fitted a new etched panel barrel in which he engraved at base "Restored and engraved by Ben G. Lane for his friend Harold Sturgeon 1-30-01." His work is of the late nineteenth century scroll with punch dot background. It exhibits C coverage with a phenomenal etched panel and bore. The entire gun was nickel plated and fitted with a nice pair of real stag grips. CONDITION: The gun retains virtually all of its custom nickel but cylinder shows it has been fired since work performed. A beautiful engraved antique Colt in near new condition. DB
