A handsome flintlock blunderbuss by the renowned H.W. Mortimer. The barrel has four rings, viewed and proofed at breech, Fleet Street London in script. The flared cannon muzzle is of good size. Bolted lock signed H. W. Mortimer. Brass mounts engraved with trophies of arms. Brass thumb piece with shell finial. Side nail screws are engraved. The lock is fairly plain. There is line engraving on hammer and cock screw. Figured walnut full stock with beautiful form and high tone. CONDITION: Barrel is good. Slight wear to Fleet Street address engraving. Lock is polished over very minor erosion. Hammer is the original. Frizzen spring is cracked and does not retain any tension on frizzen. All small parts of lock appear to be original.
