Lot consists of: (A) Ames 1836 dated 1832 pattern short sword. Standard configuration. CONDITION: Hilt very good with age patina, but good definition to cast eagles and visible "ORD" and inspector cartouches on underside of crossguard. Visible blade stamps but slight rubbing to upper portions, affecting "United States" on one side and the eagle with portions of Ames name on the other. Small edge nicks both sides, but good point. Grey metal with dark grey stains. (B) 1841 pattern USN cutlass. "USN / 1842 / NWP" reverse ricasso; "NP Ames / Springfield" obverse, and "NWP" on quillon. Engraved rack number outside of guard, "No. 79." CONDITION: very good. Age patina to hilt. Slight wear to eagles on pommel. Blade is grey with dark grey stains, but edge and point are good. Comes in mismatched scabbard, that is too short and of undetermined origin, with a belt frog. (C) French short sword. Grooved grip. Plain pommel. Serial numbers on either side of guard at center with one crossed out. Indeterminate blade stamp on one side at base. "JEAN" stamped on the other. Blade with good edge and point. Smooth metal, grey with dark grey and brown staining. (SR)
