According to the factory, this Bankers Special was shipped to Beck & Gregg Co. in Atlanta on 6-25-1934 as a standard .38 caliber blue finish with a 2" barrel. It is a square butt and now sports the most incredible pair of silver medallion pearl grips this cataloger has ever seen. They are not mentioned in the factory letter but are definitely Colt pearls and were probably sold and installed by the Atlanta dealer. Much like when you buy a new pair of boots, you leave with a half dozen leather care products, so it was with Colt and Smith dealers. Adding fancy grips, sights, cases, cleaning kits, etc. helped the bottom line. There is little doubt that these grips have been on this gun since sold. CONDITION: Phenomenal. You cannot see any drag line nor does this gun show any sign of having ever been fired. There has to be a storage or handling mark somewhere on any eighty year old gun but you will be hard pressed to find one. Even the box is in excellent condition. There is no number on bottom of box but is correct for period as is the end label. Included in the box is the original numbered test target, shooting instructions and cleaning brush. If you have been looking for a premier Bankers Model, this is it. DB CORRECTION: There exists a small repaired inclusion on the right grip at the factory monogram.
