Noted author Charles Pate estimated that 3962 Colt Match Target pistols were ordered by the US Government during the war. This is the second variation with the serial number stamped on front strap. The left side of barrel has standard Match Target Bullseye stamp and is stamped U.S.PROPERTY. The right side of the frame bears the GHD stamp for Guy Dewey. The pistol wears the standard commercial blue finish with non-glare top. The grips are the brown plastic type with Colt logo. The sights are commercial type target adjustable. The two tone tempered magazine is stamped COLT WOODSMAN CAL. 22 LR -MATCH TARGET MOD. CONDITION: Some minor handling marks but still retains 99% of the original factory blue finish. The bore is near mint and the action is crisp. A very hard to find World War II era US marked Colt Match Target pistol. From the Mel Hrubetz Collection. DB
