Pre-war 1941 Colt inspected by Charles Reed who worked from 1938-40 only. The finish is brushed blue by Colt, one of the last blue examples and assembled in early 1941 as Reed inspected this gun in 1940. The right side of frame has "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and "M1911A1 US ARMY". The left side of frame has the CSR stamp for Charles Reed along with proof P which is also stamped on top of frame. Parts include checkered wide spur hammer, checkered short trigger, fully checkered walnut grips, checkered arched mainspring housing with loop, type II rear sight with beveled edge U notch. Slide stop and safety are checkered. CONDITION: Blue finish still remains at 99% with just light handling marks and drag line. Fine bore and crisp action. Any Reed inspected Colt is highly desirable as they all predate Pearl Harbor and this example is a prime condition example. A blue pre-War Reed inspected Colt is one of the hardest to locate of all World War II era Model 1911's and it would be hard to find a nicer near mint example. DB
