Great looking model 1898 Watervliet arsenal cannon (tube #170) on original Rock Island Armory carriage with data plate (#153) with 1901 date. Carriage has operating elevation gear, bore swabs, and original metal and wood furnishings. No rear sight present. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent painted green finish with some slight rub marks here and there. Breech is extremely fine with attractive brass hardware handle. Elevation gear moves very smoothly. Steel rims of wooden wheels extremely fine turning to a brown patina at contact surfaces. Wooden wheels of carriage are exceptional, near excellent beautiful wood finish. Museum quality appearance. Rifled bore has distinct rifling at the muzzle becoming worn and pitted towards the breech. This in no way detracts from the museum quality display presence of this piece. This is not a standard shippable item and will require third party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made.
