Beginning in 1955 and made through 1968, the US Government developed a plan to take select surplus World War II Model 1911s and turn them into National Match guns to be sold to competitors at National Matches. This gun used a surplus Remington Rand frame. A Drake slide was added as they were under government contract, a US stamped Triangle target rear sight was added, a new barrel stamped NM with matching number to frame, a cut back target front sight, trigger guard stamped NM, Barrel bushing stamped NM with #7267718, right side of frame stamped SA, front strap is hand checkered, left side of slide is stamped NM 7791435, an added adjustable light weight trigger with checkered walnut grips and parkerized finish. This is an original, as Springfield built, National Match pistol. CONDITION: There is some light high edge wear and some light slide wear but still remains at 95% as arsenal built. Fine bore and action. A fine US arsenal built match pistol. Three magazines, two of which have matching etched serial number. This is one of 196 sold by the Division of Civilian Marksmanship. DB
