In 1909, the United States ordered the large New Service revolver for the United States Army, Navy and Marine Cop. All were chambered for the .45 Colt round and featured blue finish, six shot, double action with 5 - 1/2" barrels, walnut grips, and lanyard ring. The Army and Navy versions has the square butt while the Marine Corp used the round butt. This gun is marked USN with anchor on butt and were finished with the high polish commercial Colt blue. The walnut grips are smooth and bear no inspector markings. This gun is number 592 of 1000 total guns shipped to the Navy in 1911. These would have been placed on ships, a few per vessel. CONDITION: Fine, all original condition. It has the usual dings and storage marks but still retains at least 95% of the original high polish Colt finish. The bore is sharp and the action is crisp. The grips have a few hits but are excellent and fit perfect. A really clean, high grade and rare Naval issue Colt made for one year only. DB
