Group consists of: (A) World War II front seam, fixed bale M1 helmet with painted stenciled red devil and the letters "G O" on each side, Mine Safety Appliance liner. During the 60th Infantry's drive along the Tunisia-Algeria border, the regiment captured a German general's diary which gave the regiment its nickname, the "Go Devils". In his account of American actions against the Germans, the general wrote, "Look at those devils go!" The 60th Infantry thereafter became known as the "Go Devils". (B) Slot brooch Bronze Star named on the reverse "Frank V. Kalich Jr", in titled case. (C) 60th Infantry Unit History "Follow Through". (D) V-Mail letter from Corporal Frank Kalich to his brother, Corporal R.J. Kalich, dated 7/22/1943. CONDITION: All components are in excellent condition showing minor wear only.
