Manufactured 1879. Second Model 1873 Winchester with special ordered 24 inch half octagon half round barrel, full length magazine, nickel blade sporting front sight, elevator adjustable sporting rear sight with checkered sides mid-range folding staff tang sight and shotgun butt stock with smooth steel buttplate. Chambered for 44-40 W.C.F. cartridge. Blue and case colored finishes. CONDITION: Very good with over 70% blue finish remaining on barrel with losses at muzzle area with a small area of period pitting at front sight area. Receiver retains over 75% blue finish with losses at belly and right side plate from typical carry. Hammer and lever have generous amounts of case colors remaining blended with patina. The two piece American walnut stocks are very good with several bruises and compressions but retains over 80% of the oil finish. The bore is very fine with sharp rifling.
